April's Unpredictable Weather Across the North East
April is known for bringing a variety of unpredictable weather conditions, and this week has exemplified that trend. Parts of Tyne and Wear were enveloped in foggy skies, while Cumbria and County Durham enjoyed bright sunshine.

The streets of Ryton, Gateshead, were covered in fog earlier this week, creating a misty atmosphere.

An eerie scene unfolded in Sunderland where the pier was shrouded in mist, adding to the week's diverse weather experiences.
Sunshine and Spring Vibes in Cumbria and County Durham
Temperatures reached 19C in Kirkbride, Cumbria, where cirrus clouds drifted across the blue sky, contributing to pleasant conditions.

In County Durham, Bowes experienced sunshine accompanied by fluffy clouds, bringing a spring-like vibe to the otherwise changeable April weather.

Redcar also enjoyed glorious sunshine with almost no clouds or people in sight, highlighting the contrast in weather across the region.

Meanwhile, boats moored at the marina in Maryport basked in the sunshine, further illustrating the varied weather patterns.

The Lyrids Meteor Shower Peak
This week also marked the peak of the Lyrids meteor shower, offering spectacular starry displays visible across the country.
Although the North East and Cumbria were not the primary locations for observing the meteor shower, some dedicated photographers managed to capture images of the event.
