Wimbledon First Round Draw
Mimi Xu, representing Wales, is set to compete against Australia's Daria Kasatkina in the opening round of the women's singles at Wimbledon. Xu has secured a wildcard entry into the main draw for the second consecutive year.
The 18-year-old from Swansea, currently ranked 327th globally, made her Wimbledon debut in 2025 where she was defeated by fellow British player Emma Raducanu. This year, she faces a challenging opponent in Kasatkina, who is 29 years old and a former French Open semi-finalist.
Daria Kasatkina, ranked 68th in the world, is participating in Wimbledon singles for the ninth time. Her best performance at the All England Club came in 2018 when she reached the quarter-finals. Kasatkina, who previously competed under the Russian flag, achieved her career-high ranking of eighth in 2022.
Women's Doubles Wildcard
In addition to singles, Xu and her partner Alicia Dudeney have received a wildcard for the women's doubles event. They are scheduled to face the 2023 French Open doubles champions, Hsieh Su-Wei and Wang Xinyu.
Hsieh Su-Wei is a former world number one in doubles and boasts nine Grand Slam titles, including five at Wimbledon.
