Details of the Accident

Jockey Frankie Dettori sustained multiple broken ribs and a broken thumb following a car accident, according to his management team.

A spokesperson for H Talent Management confirmed that the incident occurred on Wednesday evening near Newmarket in Suffolk.

They reported that another vehicle collided with the rear passenger side of the car Dettori, aged 55, was driving, causing the vehicle to spin and overturn.

Dettori's injuries are currently under assessment as he remains hospitalized for further scans and observation.

"Frankie would like to thank the emergency services who attended the scene, together with the doctors, nurses and wider medical team caring for him," said H Talent Management.
"His focus is now on resting and recovering. H Talent Management respectfully asks that Frankie's privacy is respected at this time.
No further comment will be made until there is a meaningful update."

Racing Activity and Upcoming Plans

Dettori has not competed in Britain since October 2023, when he secured victory in the Champion Stakes aboard King of Steel at Ascot.

He was scheduled to return to racing in the Leger Legends event at Doncaster during the St Leger Festival in September.
