Tottenham Secure £100m Deal for Newcastle's Sandro Tonali
Tottenham Hotspur have finalized the acquisition of Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali for a club-record fee that could total £100 million.
The 26-year-old midfielder joins Spurs after spending three seasons with Newcastle.
Initially, Tottenham's offer of approximately £80 million was declined by Newcastle, but both clubs agreed on a transfer valued at an initial £92.5 million plus an additional £7.5 million in performance-related add-ons.
Tonali joins fellow high-profile signing Mateus Fernandes, who transferred from West Ham to Tottenham for £85 million.
Tonali, an Italy international, moved to Newcastle from AC Milan in July 2023 for a £55 million fee.
Shortly after his arrival, he received a 10-month ban from the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) for violating betting regulations.
Following his suspension, Tonali became a key figure for Newcastle and contributed to their victory in the 2025 Carabao Cup, marking the club's first trophy in 70 years.
Tottenham manager Roberto de Zerbi identified Tonali as a target during his tenure at Sassuolo, when Tonali was active in Serie A.
Tottenham's Busy Transfer Window
This summer has been active for Tottenham, with defenders Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi joining on free transfers.
The club is also poised to spend a combined £237 million on centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke and midfielders Fernandes and Tonali.
