Glasner Appointed as Nottingham Forest Head Coach

Nottingham Forest have appointed Oliver Glasner, the former Crystal Palace manager, as their fifth head coach in less than a year.

The Austrian takes over at the City Ground following the dismissal of Vitor Pereira, who was sacked on Tuesday.

Forest activated a clause in Pereira's contract, notifying him of their decision just two minutes before the contract was set to expire in June.

Contact with Glasner, aged 51, who departed Crystal Palace at the end of last season, was established earlier this summer.

Recent Coaching Changes at Forest

Last season saw several managerial changes at Forest. Nuno Espirito Santo started the season as head coach, followed by Ange Postecoglou, Sean Dyche, and then Vitor Pereira, who all held the position since September.

Glasner's Achievements

Glasner led Crystal Palace to victory in the Europa Conference League last season, adding to their FA Cup triumph in 2025.

Additionally, Palace secured the Community Shield in August by defeating Liverpool on penalties.

Glasner stated in January that he would leave at the end of the season seeking a new challenge, despite being offered a contract extension.

Before joining Palace in 2024, Glasner managed LASK, Wolfsburg, and Eintracht Frankfurt, where he won the Europa League in 2022.

Forest's Recent Performance

Nottingham Forest finished 16th in the Premier League last season, five points clear of the relegation zone, and reached the Europa League semi-finals, where they were eliminated by eventual champions Aston Villa.
