Stephen Welsh Poised to Join Swansea City
Celtic defender Stephen Welsh is on the verge of becoming Swansea City's first signing of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Welsh, aged 26, progressed through Celtic's youth system and has accumulated 70 appearances for the Glasgow club.
During the 2025-26 season, he spent most of his time on loan at Motherwell, making 31 appearances for the Scottish Premiership side.
In the season prior, Welsh was loaned out to Belgian club Mechelen. Earlier in his senior career, he also had a loan spell with Morton.
Swansea's Defensive Reinforcements
Swansea head coach Vitor Matos is looking to bolster his central defensive options ahead of the new season.
Last season, Ben Cabango and Cameron Burgess were the primary central defenders for Swansea, while Ricardo Santos played a more peripheral role. Additionally, Kaelan Casey's season-long loan from West Ham was cut short in January and he was not replaced.
