Newport County Address Supporter Conduct Concerns

Newport County, currently positioned 23rd in League Two, have issued a warning to their supporters regarding conduct during recent home matches. The club cited "serious incidents of unacceptable behaviour" occurring at Rodney Parade and emphasized that such actions will not be tolerated.

In an official statement, Newport County indicated that if further incidents arise, they may close the section behind the dugouts at their home ground. The club also highlighted that fans engaging in "abusive, discriminatory or threatening behaviour" will face disciplinary measures.

Club Statement on Behaviour Standards

Following the home fixture against Colchester United last Saturday, an announcement was made within the stadium cautioning against the use of racist and abusive language. Newport County now wish to remind all supporters of the expected standards of behaviour.

"During recent home fixtures, the club has unfortunately recorded a number of serious incidents of unacceptable behaviour from individuals within the Terrace area,"
"We want to be clear that abusive, discriminatory or threatening behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated.
Individuals found responsible for such conduct risk facing sanctions which may include ejection from the stadium, suspension or banning from future matches, and potential involvement from the relevant authorities."

The club further expressed concern that the actions of some individuals in the stands negatively impact the reputation of the wider fanbase.

"Due to repeated issues in recent weeks, the club must also advise that should further incidents occur, the area behind the dugouts within the Terrace may be closed, as has been necessary in previous seasons,"

Newport County currently find themselves in the relegation zone of the fourth tier, despite having secured seven points from four games prior to their 2-1 defeat to Colchester United.

Looking ahead, Christian Fuchs' squad will travel to Barnet this Saturday. Following that, league leaders Bromley are scheduled to visit Newport on Tuesday, 17 March.
