Investigation and Police Response

FBI Involvement and Ransom Note

FBI Special Agent Heith Janke confirmed that the bureau is examining a potential ransom note sent to multiple media outlets.

Janke described the note as one that "had facts associated with a deadline with a monetary value they were asking for," according to NBC News.

A presenter from a local CBS News affiliate informed the BBC that her station had received the "message," though she did not disclose its contents.

Family's Previous Appeals and Communication Efforts

The Guthrie family has released two prior videos expressing willingness to communicate with the potential kidnapper and requesting proof that their mother is alive.

In a video released on Thursday, Camron Guthrie, Nancy Guthrie's son, confirmed that the family has not had direct contact with the kidnappers.

"We have to know that you have our mum," Camron said. "We want to talk to you."

Arrest Related to Fake Ransom Note

On Thursday, the FBI arrested an individual in connection with a fake ransom note.

Concerns for Nancy Guthrie's Health

Both family members and law enforcement have expressed concern that Nancy Guthrie may be at risk due to lack of access to her medication.

"She is without any medicine," Savannah Guthrie stated in a previous announcement. "She needs it to survive. She needs it not to suffer."
