Investigation into DNA Evidence at Nancy Guthrie's Residence

Authorities have discovered DNA at the home of Nancy Guthrie, the missing mother of US news anchor Savannah Guthrie, which does not match her or those known to be in close contact with her, according to local officials.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department is actively working to identify the source of the DNA but has not revealed the specific location where it was found.

In addition to the DNA, investigators located several gloves, with the closest found approximately two miles from Nancy Guthrie's residence.

Details of Nancy Guthrie's Disappearance

The 84-year-old woman vanished from her Tucson, Arizona home in the middle of the night nearly two weeks ago. Authorities suspect she was abducted against her will.

The sheriff's department clarified that reports claiming a glove was found inside or on the property of Nancy Guthrie's home are incorrect.

All evidence collected, including the DNA and gloves, has been forwarded for laboratory analysis.

Suspect Description and Investigation Progress

On Thursday, the FBI released a physical description of the suspect, identifying him as a male between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 10 inches (175-177 cm) tall with an average build.

Investigators obtained identifying details about the suspect through analysis of footage from a doorbell camera installed outside Guthrie's home.

The suspect was seen carrying a 25-litre Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack in the footage, according to the FBI.

Public Response and Reward Increase

Following the release of the doorbell camera footage, investigators received over 13,000 tips, including 4,000 within the first 24 hours.

The FBI has doubled the reward for information regarding Nancy Guthrie's disappearance from $50,000 (£36,700) to $100,000.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department emphasized that the suspect description

"remains a key focus"
but added,
"However, investigators are not ruling out any individuals or possibilities."

Additional Appeals and Family Statements

Investigators have issued a broader appeal requesting video footage from neighbors in the area surrounding Guthrie's home.

Police have noted that Nancy Guthrie requires daily medication and has limited mobility.

Savannah Guthrie and her two siblings have made multiple social media appeals directed at their mother's abductor, expressing their belief that she is still alive and their willingness to pay for her safe return.
