Family Announces $1 Million Reward in Search for Nancy Guthrie
US news anchor Savannah Guthrie has revealed that her family is offering a $1 million reward for information leading to the return of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, on the 24th day of the ongoing search for the 84-year-old woman.
In an emotional Instagram video, the NBC host fought back tears as she expressed the family's deep concern and longing for Nancy, who is believed to have been abducted from her home in Tucson, Arizona.
"We still believe in a miracle, we still believe that she can come home - hope against hope,"
said Guthrie.
"We also know that she may be lost, she may already be gone, she may have already gone home to the Lord that she loves."
In the video released on Tuesday morning, Savannah Guthrie also announced that her family would donate $500,000 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
"Please, if you hear this message, if you've been waiting and you haven't been sure, let this be your sign to please come forward.
Tell what you know, and help us bring our beloved mom home, so that we can either celebrate a glorious, miraculous homecoming or celebrate the beautiful, brave and courageous and noble life that she has lived."
Details of Nancy Guthrie's Disappearance
Nancy Guthrie was reported missing around midday on 1 February after she failed to attend church services. Authorities from the Pima County Sheriff's Office have indicated that they believe she was taken from her home against her will, possibly during the night, suggesting a potential kidnapping or abduction.
The family has made multiple public appeals for Nancy's safe return and has requested proof that she is alive. Despite these efforts, the case remains unresolved.
Investigation and Suspect Information
Law enforcement has released images of a prime suspect, a man captured on Nancy Guthrie's Nest doorbell camera. According to a law enforcement source speaking to CBS News, this individual was also seen at Nancy Guthrie's front door on a prior occasion before her disappearance.
In a post on X, the FBI's Phoenix office urged anyone with "firsthand knowledge" of Nancy Guthrie's whereabouts to contact the FBI tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
Until this announcement, the total reward stood at $200,000, with $100,000 offered by the FBI and another $100,000 through Tucson Crime Stoppers.
Detectives have received nearly 40,000 tips from the public since the search began.
DNA evidence was collected from a glove found near Nancy Guthrie's home, similar to one worn by the suspect recorded on doorbell camera footage. However, authorities reported that the DNA did not produce any matches in the FBI database.
Investigators have excluded all members of the Guthrie family as possible suspects. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated,
"To suggest otherwise is not only wrong, it is cruel."
