Anthropic Files Lawsuit Against US Government

Artificial intelligence (AI) company Anthropic has initiated a groundbreaking lawsuit against the US government, challenging its designation as a "supply chain risk."

The dispute arises amid public disagreements between Anthropic's CEO, Dario Amodei, and US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth. The conflict centers on the company's refusal to grant the military unrestricted access to its AI technologies.

In response, the Pentagon labeled Anthropic the first US firm to be identified as a "supply chain risk." Anthropic contends in its lawsuit, filed Monday against multiple US government agencies, that this classification is both unlawful and unprecedented.

The BBC has reached out to the US Department of Defense for a statement regarding the matter.
