Man in 30s Dies After Fire in Belfast Hospital Emergency Department

A man in his 30s died after a fire broke out in the emergency department toilets at Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital. Emergency services responded on Wednesday evening. Police do not consider the death suspicious.

Fire Incident at Belfast Hospital

A man in his 30s has died following a fire in the emergency department (ED) of a Belfast hospital.

On Wednesday evening, the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) responded to a fire on the ground floor of the Royal Victoria Hospital.

The NIFRS reported that the fire occurred in the toilets of the ED, resulting in injuries to a man. NI understands that he was treated for burns but has since died in hospital.

Police have stated that they are not treating the death as suspicious. The main entrance of the ED has now been reopened.

"A man was injured following a fire in the toilets of the ED," the NIFRS said.
