Arrests Made Following Firearms Discovery

Two men were arrested after suspected firearms and a suspicious device were found at a property in east Belfast.

The arrests came after a security alert at Victor Place on Wednesday afternoon, which resulted in the evacuation of several homes in the area.

Police had received reports that two masked men armed with firearms were seen near Victor Street.

A man in his 40s and a man in his 20s were taken into custody on suspicion of possession of a firearm under suspicious circumstances.

The suspicious device was later determined to be non-viable.

The man in his 20s has been released on bail, while the man in his 40s remains in police custody.
