Arrest Following Fatal Stabbing in Swadlincote
A 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 72-year-old woman was found with stab wounds at a property in Swadlincote.
Derbyshire Police reported that officers were called to an address on The Crest in Linton shortly after 14:30 BST on Sunday.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the police.
The suspect remains in police custody as inquiries continue.
Support for Family and Public Appeal
A police spokesperson confirmed that specialist officers are supporting the woman’s family during this difficult time.
Authorities have issued an appeal for information, requesting anyone with CCTV, doorbell, or dash cam footage covering The Crest between 00:01 on Saturday and 15:00 on Sunday to come forward.

Investigation and Community Reassurance
Detective Inspector Tony Owen, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit and lead investigator, stated:
"Members of the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area whilst we carry out our inquiries.
We are aware that this may cause some concern in the community but I would like to reassure residents that this is believed to be an isolated incident.
