Keir Starmer Announces Resignation
Sir Keir Starmer has declared his intention to resign as leader of the Labour Party, initiating a process to select a new prime minister.
Addressing the public from Downing Street, Sir Keir acknowledged that he was not the best candidate to lead Labour into the forthcoming general election. He confirmed that he has informed the King of his decision to step down.

"I accept I am not best placed to lead Labour into the next general election," Sir Keir said.
