Family Expresses Gratitude to Zoo Staff Following Crocodile Attack
The family of a three-year-old boy who suffered serious injuries after entering a crocodile enclosure have publicly thanked the zoo staff who rescued him.
The incident occurred on 18 June at Johnsons of Old Hurst near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. According to the BBC, the boy was attacked by at least one crocodile during the event.
In a statement released through Cambridgeshire Police, the family said:
"We would like to thank the staff at the zoo who rescued our son from the enclosure... our attention remains focused on his recovery and supporting him through this extremely challenging and prolonged period of time."
Authorities have arrested and subsequently bailed a 30-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident.
The boy is currently receiving treatment at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge and is reported to be in stable condition.
The family's statement further added:
"We are truly grateful for the public support and well-wishes we have received, as well as to everyone who has been directly involved in our son's care and recovery in hospital."
Police confirmed that the boy, a Cambridgeshire resident visiting the zoo with his family, sustained serious injuries while inside the crocodile enclosure and was subsequently pulled out by zoo staff.
