Emotional Tribute from Kimberly Van Der Beek

Kimberly Van Der Beek, widow of actor James Van Der Beek, has shared an emotional tribute to her late husband three months following his death.

The actor, best known for his role in Dawson's Creek, passed away in February at the age of 48 due to bowel cancer. On Tuesday, Kimberly posted on Instagram reflecting on the ongoing reality of his loss.

"Yesterday was three months since we lost @vanderjames," she wrote, accompanied by a carousel of family photographs. "To say I'm heartbroken is a severe understatement. Words just don't capture what grief is. The comforts of shock have worn off. The reality is settling in... and I miss him."

She further expressed the collective sense of loss felt by the family and a spiritual connection she now experiences.

"We all miss him. Yet, there is a different kind of magic in the air. I feel him. I know him more deeply. My conscious connection to God has deepened. The veils of the universe have thinned. And I trust that this is the path me and my family have always been intended to walk."

James Van Der Beek's Career and Family

James Van Der Beek gained fame portraying Dawson Leery, an aspiring filmmaker, in the television series Dawson's Creek, which aired from 1998 to 2003. He and Kimberly had six children together.

In the months leading up to his death, Van Der Beek openly discussed the financial strain caused by his cancer treatments. The costs were so significant that Kimberly had to request donations to avoid losing their home.

The actor revealed that his early career earnings were minimal, stating that he was paid "almost nothing" for his work on Dawson's Creek and that his contract did not include residual payments for reruns.

To help cover expenses, he auctioned off memorabilia from his career, including a tartan buttoned shirt worn in the first episode of Dawson's Creek, a necklace given to Katie Holmes' character on the show, and sports shoes from the 1999 film Varsity Blues.

Gratitude for Support

Reflecting on the support received since James Van Der Beek's passing, Kimberly expressed her appreciation.

"The outpouring of support has been tremendous," she said on Tuesday. "It's held our family in the most beautiful of ways. You all went absolutely above and beyond anything I could have ever expected in supporting us and honouring James. I am deeply grateful. There is so much more to share here. And in time - I will."

Tributes from Co-Stars

Following the announcement of his death in February, Van Der Beek's co-stars from Dawson's Creek paid tribute to him.

Katie Holmes, who played Joey Potter, Dawson's best friend on the series, posted a handwritten statement on Instagram remembering Van Der Beek for his qualities and outlook on life.

Holmes described Van Der Beek's "bravery, compassion, selflessness and strength", as well as his "appreciation for life."
