Four More Men Freed from Flooded Laos Cave

Four men who had been trapped inside a flooded cave in Laos for 10 days have been rescued, according to Thai rescuers. This rescue occurred a day after another man was saved from the same cave.

The group consists of seven Lao nationals who entered the narrow tunnels in search of gold. They became trapped inside the cave located in the remote mountainous area of central Xaysomboun province after flash floods struck on 20 May.

Rescuers found only five of the men alive on Wednesday. Two men remain missing.

The cave system extends deep underground and is extremely narrow, with some chambers measuring only about 50cm (20 inches) wide, according to rescuers.
