Tributes to Talay Riley Following Fatal Stabbing in East London

Tributes have been paid to Grammy-winning musician Talay Riley, whose real name was Mark Orabiyi, after he was fatally stabbed in a double stabbing incident in east London.

The 35-year-old singer-songwriter, known professionally as Talay Riley, contributed to tracks for prominent artists including Dua Lipa, Zendaya, Khalid, Flo, and Chipmunk.

Among those expressing condolences to Orabiyi's family were rapper Stormzy and JLS star Oritse Williams. Rapper Wretch 32 posted on social media:

Your brother was a gem & will be missed & never forgotten.

Orabiyi was found with stab wounds in a garden on Rayleigh Road, Silvertown, shortly after 09:00 BST on 5 June. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

His musical contributions include work on Khalid's "Young Dumb & Broke," The Chainsmokers' "Who Do You Love," HER's "Lights On," Flo's "Walk Like This," and Kehlani's "Out The Window."

Outpouring of Love and Condolences

Michael Orabiyi, Talay Riley's brother and known professionally as record producer and songwriter Scribz Riley, shared his grief on Instagram, describing his heart as "shattered."

Stormzy responded to the post with:

Former X-Factor star Oritse Williams wrote:

Sending you and your family strength and prayers...

Sugababes star Keisha Buchanan also expressed her sympathies, stating:

Sending my condolences and prayers, so very sorry.

In his Instagram message, Michael Orabiyi described his brother as:

a friend to many, a mentor, an inspiration, and a light in so many people's lives.

He further added:

He loved deeply, gave freely, and touched countless people through his talent, kindness, and spirit.
The outpouring of love already shows how many lives he impacted. You inspired so many people and your legacy will continue to live on through your music...

Investigation and Arrests

The second victim, a man in his 20s, is currently receiving treatment for multiple stab wounds. Authorities have confirmed his injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing.

Three individuals have been arrested on suspicion of murdering Orabiyi. A 27-year-old man has been released on bail pending further inquiries, while a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman have been released with no further action.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke of the Metropolitan Police stated:

Our investigation continues at pace. I would like to appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time of this incident to speak to police.
We are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who might have CCTV or other footage from the morning of the incident that could assist our investigation.
