Staffing Challenges at Inverness Airport
Staffing difficulties at Inverness Airport may cause flight disruptions for several weeks, according to the airport's operator.
Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd (Hial) reported challenges within its air traffic control team, necessitating the scheduling of "temporary closures" of the service aligned with flight timetables.
Some flights experienced impacts during the recent bank holiday weekend.
Hial has advised passengers to reach out to their respective airlines for the most current flight updates.
Airport Overview and Flight Connections
Approximately one million passengers transit through Inverness Airport, located at Dalcross near Inverness, annually.
The airport maintains connections to the Western Isles, Northern Isles, Gatwick, Heathrow, Manchester, and Amsterdam.
Notably, flights over the weekend included arrivals of participants competing in the BBC's new series, The Celebrity Traitors, filmed at Ardross Castle north of Inverness.
Details on Staffing Issues
Hial has refrained from disclosing specific reasons behind the staffing shortages.
A spokesperson stated:
"Staffing issues at Inverness Airport continue and will necessitate temporary closures over the coming weeks.
We will try, wherever possible, to plan closures around our flight schedules - however this may not be possible and some flights may be affected."
"We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause.
Passengers should contact their airline directly for latest flight information."
