Flooding Causes Service Disruption at Glasgow Central
Services at Scotland's busiest train station, Glasgow Central, have been disrupted due to flooding affecting part of the station.
A burst water pipe on Argyle Street has caused flooding that is preventing trains from stopping at the station's low-level platforms. This disruption impacts services connecting stations west of Glasgow, including Balloch and Milngavie, to destinations such as Motherwell and Cumbernauld.
This incident marks the second time this year that services at Glasgow Central have been halted due to flooding, following a similar event in February.
In addition to flooding issues, the station faced a closure in March after a fire on Union Street. The main entrance to the building remains closed because of ongoing demolition work in the vicinity.
Alternative Travel Arrangements
The affected services continue to operate, but passengers are advised to disembark at either Anderston or Argyle Street stations, or to transfer to the Glasgow Queen Street line for their onward journey.
Scotrail issued a statement on social media regarding the situation:
"There is flooding at Glasgow Central Low Level station due to a burst water pipe. Trains aren't stopping there until further notice - please use Argyle Street station instead.
Services at Glasgow Central (High Level) are running as normal."
The flooding disruption experienced in February lasted several hours before services resumed normal operation.
