Wu Takes Command in Crucible Final Against Murphy
Wu Yize secured the final frame of the session to establish a 10-7 lead over Shaun Murphy in the World Snooker Championship final, positioning himself to become the second-youngest player ever to win the Crucible title.
The 22-year-old is three months younger than Murphy was when he won his only world title in 2005 and would rank just behind Stephen Hendry, who was 21 when he first won in 1990.
If Wu can maintain his advantage against the Englishman on Monday, he would also follow Zhao Xintong as the second consecutive Chinese player to claim the championship.
Based on Sunday’s second session, this prospect appears increasingly feasible for Wu, who moved from his hometown of Lanzhou with his father at age 16 to pursue his snooker ambitions.

Wu began the evening session impressively, resuming the match at 4-4 after an afternoon session briefly interrupted when a female spectator jumped over the front-row barrier before being removed by referee Rob Spencer and security personnel.
Wu compiled breaks of 82 and 103 to gain a two-frame lead. Although Murphy, who had earlier recovered from a 3-0 deficit, responded with a break of 72, he appeared unable to halt Wu’s momentum.
Murphy, aged 43, who is attempting to set a new record for the longest interval between first and second world titles, acknowledged that Wu had dominated him at the Masters in January, albeit in a best-of-11 match.
Prior to this year, Wu had never won a match at the Crucible, but he has so far answered every challenge posed by the longer format.
Wu’s capacity for long pots enabled him to compile runs of 89 and 66, winning three of the next four frames.
During this period, another spectator was asked to leave after their phone alarm sounded just as Murphy was about to play a shot early in the 15th frame.
Murphy remained resilient and responded after a remarkable plant to claim the 16th frame, narrowing the deficit to 9-7.
However, with Murphy appearing to control the final frame of the day, Wu executed a risky long red pot to initiate a superb 91-point break, securing a strong overnight lead.
The best-of-35 final will resume on Monday at 13:00 BST, live on BBC Two.

Analysis - Wu 'Scaring Life Out of Everyone He Plays'
"It's harder [trailing overnight] but Shaun has got that kind of game that can win bunches of frames in no time at all. He's got that in him.
Wu has just got to be careful that he doesn't think he's won it already. The people who are with him - keep his feet on the ground tonight."
– Stephen Hendry, seven-time world champion, speaking on BBC Two
"There is a long, long way to go but he is in front overnight and you can't ask for more than that.
From Shaun's perspective, he has to hope Wu Yize gives him more chances. He is scaring the life out of everyone he plays. I think it's going to be a tough day for Shaun Murphy tomorrow."
– Steve Davis, six-time world champion, speaking on BBC Two
