Sinner Retains Wimbledon Crown
Jannik Sinner has become only the 10th man to successfully defend the Wimbledon men's singles title since the Open era began in 1968.
The Italian star once again showcased why he is regarded as the world's top player by overcoming Alexander Zverev in a closely contested final at the All England Club.
Sinner gradually asserted control in a tightly fought match, ultimately prevailing 6-7 (7-9), 7-6 (7-2), 6-3, 6-4.
German second seed Zverev entered the match with confidence following his first Grand Slam triumph at the French Open last month and played boldly throughout the encounter.
Despite Zverev's determined and confident play, it was not enough to overcome Sinner in a high-quality, intense match that captivated the star-studded Centre Court audience.
Among those watching were the Prince and Princess of Wales, as well as Hollywood actors Nicole Kidman and Ben Stiller, who witnessed Sinner's steady performance against a resolute opponent.
Sinner's relief was evident as he collapsed to the floor in celebration after securing victory in three hours and 46 minutes, marking the second longest win of his career.
With this win, Sinner has now defeated Zverev in his last 10 matches and joins an elite group as the 10th man to retain the Wimbledon men's singles trophy since 1968.
This victory represents the fifth Grand Slam title of Sinner's career and his first of the 2026 season.
