Ashley Beck Takes Full-Time Role as Wales Women’s Attack Coach
Ashley Beck has been appointed as the full-time attack coach for the Wales Women’s national rugby team. The former Wales centre, who earned seven caps for the national side, had previously been part of head coach Sean Lynn’s coaching team during the 2026 Women’s Six Nations campaign.
Beck, aged 36, will step down from his head coach position at Brython Thunder to focus on his new role. He will join forwards coach Steve Salvin and defence coach Tyrone Holmes as assistants to Lynn for the upcoming WXV Global Series.
"This was an opportunity I simply couldn't turn down after being with the national side in the recent Women's Six Nations campaign," said Beck, a former Ospreys player.
"We took real steps forward during the championship and the players really bought into the new team identity and playing philosophy we want to build."
Coaching Background and Impact
Beck previously served as the attack coach for Worcester Warriors Women in the Premiership Women's Rugby (PWR), where he worked alongside Jo Yapp, the newly appointed head coach of the British and Irish Lions. Over the past three seasons, he has led Brython Thunder in the Celtic Challenge, guiding the team to the play-off semi-finals in the current season.
"Ash's relatability to the players and the knowledge of his squad at Brython Thunder has proved invaluable," said Sean Lynn.
"He wants players to express themselves, be brave and have the confidence to attack what they see in front of them but within a clear attacking structure."
Recent Performances and Upcoming Fixtures
Wales Women recently ended a nine-game losing streak with a 34-17 victory against the Barbarians in an uncapped match held at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham. The team will reconvene for pre-season training on 3 August as they prepare for the WXV Global Series.
Their campaign will commence on Friday, 18 September, with a match against South Africa at Cardiff Arms Park. This will be followed by a game against the USA at the same venue eight days later, and then Test matches in Japan scheduled for October.
