Ethan Galbraith Set to Join Stoke City
Ethan Galbraith, a former Manchester United youth player, is set to leave Swansea City after the Welsh club accepted an eight-figure bid from Stoke City for the Northern Ireland international midfielder.
Galbraith is scheduled to undergo a medical examination in Stoke-on-Trent on Tuesday following Swansea's decision to allow the 25-year-old to depart after just one year with the club.
Versatile Midfielder and Defensive Contributor
Galbraith, who is also capable of playing at right-back, was a key player for Swansea after joining from Leyton Orient for a transfer fee of £1.5 million.
The Swans had intended to offer Galbraith a new long-term contract this summer; however, the former Manchester United academy graduate has indicated his desire to move on.
Swansea sources say it had been made clear that Galbraith was not prepared to sign a new contract.
His current contract with Swansea runs until 2028, with an option for the club to extend it by an additional 12 months. Despite this, Swansea have chosen to approve Galbraith's transfer rather than retain him against his wishes.
Impact on Swansea and Coach Vitor Matos
This development represents a significant setback for head coach Vitor Matos as the squad prepares to commence pre-season training, considering Galbraith's contributions during the previous season.
Galbraith will leave Swansea having scored four goals in 44 appearances, many of which came while playing in the less familiar position of right-back.
