Everton Close to Signing Tyrique George Permanently
Everton are nearing an agreement with Chelsea to secure winger Tyrique George on a permanent basis following his loan period at the club.
The 20-year-old spent the latter half of last season on loan at Everton, with an initial option to buy set at £25 million. However, Everton have since renegotiated the terms to include an upfront fee supplemented by add-ons.
During his four-month loan spell, George made 11 appearances for Everton, starting in one match, and made a positive impression on manager David Moyes.
In May, Moyes described him as "an excellent boy" with an "excellent work-rate" when discussing the possibility of a permanent transfer ahead of the season's final match.

Alongside the George deal, Everton are finalizing a £16 million transfer for Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney.
Attacking midfielder Merlin Rohl is also expected to make his loan move from SC Freiburg permanent following a successful spell last season. Meanwhile, Idrissa Gana Gueye and Seamus Coleman have left the club after their contracts expired.
Tyrique George's Background and Transfer History
George, a product of Chelsea's academy, has been available for transfer for the past year. He engaged in talks with RB Leipzig last summer, and a proposed £22 million move to Fulham fell through on the transfer deadline day in September 2025.
Chelsea's Squad Rebuild and Transfer Plans
Chelsea continue to rebuild their squad under new manager Xabi Alonso. The club has signed Marco Palestra from Atalanta and remains interested in Crystal Palace's Maxence Lacroix, Como's Jacobo Ramon, and Rayo Vallecano full-back Pep Chavarria.
However, Chelsea are also focused on reducing squad size after finishing 10th in the Premier League and missing out on European competition qualification. This results in fewer matches and decreased revenue from broadcasting and matchdays.
Additionally, Chelsea remain under a UEFA settlement agreement for the next three seasons following breaches of financial regulations last summer.
Consequently, player sales are anticipated. Real Madrid have shown interest in Enzo Fernandez, while clubs such as Como and Inter Milan are keen on Trevoh Chalobah.
The futures of players including Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo, Wesley Fofana, and forwards Alejandro Garnacho and Liam Delap remain uncertain.
