Spain Claims 10th U19 European Title

Spain secured the UEFA Men's Under-19 Championship for the 10th time with a 2-0 victory over Germany at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground.

Goals from Hugo Lopez and Mario Rivas enabled Spain to retain the trophy they won in 2024.

Paco Gallardo's team emerged as the dominant side throughout the eight-team tournament held over two weeks in north Wales.

Spain scored 19 goals in five matches without conceding a single goal.

Match Highlights

Germany's Otto Stange was twice denied by Spain's goalkeeper Manu Gonzalez, while Spain's Daniel Yanez narrowly missed with a free-kick that went wide of the post.

Lopez's skillful lob struck the crossbar but he remained persistent.

Following Yanez's deflected shot that hit the post, Lopez scored from close range to give Spain a 1-0 lead just before halftime.

Spain extended their lead three minutes into the second half when Rivas headed in a corner delivered by Yanez.

Historic Double Victory

This win completed a unique double for Spain, as their women's team also defeated Germany in the UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship final held earlier on Saturday in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Qualification for FIFA U20 World Cup

The two men's finalists, along with the losing semi-finalists Ukraine and Croatia, have already secured their places in the 2027 FIFA U20 World Cup to be held in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

Earlier in the week, Denmark defeated Italy on penalties to earn a spot in the inter-confederation play-offs for qualification to that tournament.
