Michael Carrick Poised for Permanent Manchester United Role
Michael Carrick, who made 463 appearances for Manchester United, is anticipated to be recommended to Sir Jim Ratcliffe as the club's permanent manager by senior executives.
The former United midfielder, aged 44, has emerged as the leading candidate for the position after successfully guiding the team to qualification for next season's Champions League during his tenure as caretaker head coach.
Initially, Manchester United planned to postpone the decision on appointing a successor to Ruben Amorim, who was dismissed in January, until the conclusion of the season.
However, according to an exclusive report by The Athletic, chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox have reportedly decided that Carrick is the appropriate choice for the managerial role and intend to inform Ratcliffe of their recommendation this week.
Should minority shareholder Ratcliffe concur with their assessment, the club will initiate formal negotiations with Carrick prior to confirming his appointment.
