Andy Thomson Appointed Hearts Head Coach
Andy Thomson has been named head coach of Scottish Women Premier League (SWPL) champions Hearts, succeeding Eva Olid.
Thomson, aged 55, departs from his role as assistant manager at Rangers, a position he has held since early 2025.
He replaces Eva Olid, who guided Hearts to their inaugural top-flight title in her final match at the helm. The club had previously announced that Olid, a Spaniard, would be departing at the conclusion of the season.
Playing and Coaching Career
During his playing career, Thomson was a forward for several clubs including Queen of the South, Partick Thistle, Falkirk, Stenhousemuir, and four English teams.
Transitioning into coaching, he led the University of Strathclyde men's team and has been involved with Caledonian Braves and the University of Stirling.
Thomson also served as assistant to Shelley Kerr during her tenure as Scotland women's national team manager and later took on the role of football development manager at Motherwell.
