Christian Fuchs Steps Down as Newport County Manager

Christian Fuchs, who earned 78 caps for Austria, has resigned from his position as manager of Newport County after a tenure of seven months at the League Two club.

The former Austria international defender took over the managerial role at Newport County in November, succeeding the dismissed David Hughes.

Fuchs, notable for winning the Premier League with Leicester City, played a key role in helping Newport County avoid relegation from the Football League on the final day of the season.

Despite this achievement, the 40-year-old has chosen to leave his post just before the start of pre-season preparations, leaving Newport County in search of their fourth manager in a little over two years.

"Newport County can confirm that Christian Fuchs has made the decision to step away from his role as manager," the club stated.
"Everyone at Newport County would like to thank Christian for his hard work, commitment and professionalism, and wish him every success for the future."

Newport County's Managerial Changes and Upcoming Fixtures

This will mark the third consecutive pre-season in which Newport County will appoint a new manager, following the tenures of Nelson Jardim and David Hughes.

Newport County's upcoming season will commence with a Carabao Cup match against AFC Wimbledon during the weekend of 8 August, followed by a League Two opening fixture against Rochdale at Rodney Parade on 15 August.
