The Hundred 2026 Women’s Player Auction Commences

Good morning brave new world. Today marks a significant shift as we move beyond the Hula Hoops era and enter the age of billionaire owners and player auctions, accompanied by a touch of geopolitics.

The women’s player auction is set to begin in approximately one hour, with the men’s auction scheduled for tomorrow. The process involves each player being presented in turn, and the highest bidder securing their services for a six-week period during the summer.

Player Categories and Auction Process

Players are divided into three categories: hero players, ranked players, and nominated players. Hero players consist of the top 50 players who attracted the most franchise interest. Ranked players are selected by each team, which ranks 25 players from the best of the remaining pool. Lastly, nominated players are unsigned players chosen by teams; these players are auctioned, and if no other team places a bid, they remain with the team that nominated them.

Media Access and Coverage

Media access to the auction room is restricted; however, our correspondent Andy Bull will be entering the mixed zone intermittently to provide updates. We will be monitoring the event remotely and invite you to follow along with us.
