Tier One side Hampshire Hawks decisively ended Glamorgan's campaign in the T20 County Cup with a commanding 97-run win at Newport. The result highlighted the significant gap between the top two tiers in women's county cricket, as Glamorgan suffered their heaviest defeat by runs in their short history.

Hampshire posted an imposing total of 201 for three in their 20 overs, led by Francesca Sweet's 77 runs. Glamorgan were then restricted to 104 for nine in their innings.

Following this defeat, Glamorgan will now focus on the Blast League Two competition, where they hold a strong position to qualify for the Finals Day scheduled at their home ground, Sophia Gardens.

England international Maia Boucher initiated the aggressive batting display for Hampshire, scoring 63 runs off 42 balls before being dismissed by Glamorgan's most economical bowler, Sara Phillips, who took 1-26. Abi Norgrove contributed 47 runs to the total.

Sweet, who was once considered a potential signing for Glamorgan during the winter, dominated her innings by scoring 77 runs off just 35 balls, effectively putting the target out of Glamorgan's reach.

Glamorgan's batting lineup struggled against the spin attack from Hampshire, with Bex Tyson taking 3-25 and Georgia Adams also applying pressure. Only Bea Ellis managed to reach double figures with 13 runs as Glamorgan collapsed to 26 for five.

Gemma Porter and Eve Jackson (14) provided a brief resistance, with Porter top-scoring at 23 before being run out. The ninth wicket fell in the 16th over.

Lower-order batters Poppy Walker (19 not out) and Katy Cobb batted through the remaining overs to reduce the margin of defeat.
