Italy Captain Suffers Injury in World Cup Opener
Captain Wayne Madsen dislocated his left shoulder during the fourth over of Italy's opening match at the T20 World Cup.
The 42-year-old, who holds an Italian passport through his Italian grandmother, has had a notable career, including being a key player for Derbyshire in county cricket and a former South African hockey international.
Madsen sustained the injury while attempting a diving stop against Scotland in Kolkata, which forced him to leave the field immediately. Scotland scored 207-4 in their 20 overs.
He is scheduled for a reassessment within 24 hours before any decisions are made regarding his participation in the remainder of the tournament.
Upcoming Matches for Italy
Italy's next fixtures include a match against Nepal in Mumbai on Thursday, followed by a game against England in Kolkata on 16 February.
Their final group stage match will be against the West Indies on 19 February, also held in Kolkata.
