Craig Overton played a pivotal role in Somerset's T20 Blast title defence, delivering one of the competition's most remarkable innings to secure a dramatic victory against Yorkshire and ensure the defending champions' place at Finals Day.

Yorkshire, aiming for their first T20 Blast title, had Somerset struggling at 82-8 in the 15th over while chasing 162 at Headingley.

However, Overton's explosive 79 runs off just 30 balls, which included three sixes in the final over where Somerset required 22 runs to win, propelled the visitors to a stunning win and marked their sixth consecutive qualification for the showpiece event.

Notts Outlaws Narrowly Defeat Surrey in Thrilling Quarter-Final

At Trent Bridge, Notts Outlaws edged past Surrey by seven runs in a tense finish that went down to the final over.

Surrey's chase of 164 looked promising with Jason Roy scoring 76 and Laurie Evans adding 40, combining for a 100-run opening partnership after 12 overs.

However, Surrey lost three wickets quickly and required 12 runs from the last over. Olly Stone took two crucial wickets in that over to restrict Surrey, whose last seven batters managed only 39 runs.

Binura Fernando and George Linde also contributed with two wickets each, helping Notts reach Finals Day for the first time since their 2020 championship-winning campaign.

Jack Haynes was the standout batsman for Notts, finishing unbeaten on 75.

Hampshire Hawks Dominate Essex with Vince’s Century and Baker’s Five-Wicket Haul

James Vince scored a commanding 125 from 61 balls, marking his sixth T20 Blast century and the second highest score of the season, to lead Hampshire Hawks to a formidable total of 212 against Essex at the Utilita Bowl.

Joe Weatherley supported Vince with 46 runs off 26 balls, sharing a 117-run partnership for the second wicket.

Sonny Baker, recently debuted for England in Tests, dismantled the Essex top order with a five-wicket haul, while James Fuller contributed 2-24.

Despite Charlie Allison’s 44 runs, Essex were outplayed throughout the match, resulting in a 75-run defeat.

Hampshire’s victory secured their 12th appearance at T20 Finals Day, equalling the record held jointly with Somerset.

Northamptonshire Steelbacks Secure Semifinal Spot with Convincing Win Over Gloucestershire

Northamptonshire Steelbacks, dominant throughout the group stages, continued their strong form with an eight-wicket victory over Gloucestershire.

Gloucestershire struggled early, falling to 5-2 and then 20-3. Ben Charlesworth’s 68 and captain Jack Taylor’s 22 helped stabilize the innings to 103-4 before Taylor’s dismissal in the 12th over.

However, Gloucestershire failed to build on this foundation and were bowled out for 152, with Ben Sanderson taking 4-20 as the standout bowler.

Northants chased down the target comfortably, with David Willey top-scoring with an unbeaten 47, supported by Ricardo Vasconcelos (42) and Nathan McSweeney (28).

There was concern for Chris Lynn, who retired hurt on 18 after being struck on the toe by Duan Jansen.

Northants will be aiming for their third T20 Blast title at Finals Day, having reached the event for the second consecutive season.
