Glamorgan Secures Nathan McAndrew for Vitality Blast and County Championship
Glamorgan have announced the signing of Australian pace bowler Nathan McAndrew for the upcoming season. The 32-year-old will be part of the Welsh county's squad throughout their Vitality Blast T20 campaign and the County Championship matches scheduled between the two Blast blocks in June.
McAndrew is an experienced T20 cricketer, having played for Sydney Thunder for a decade and representing Sussex during the last three English summers. In addition to his limited-overs credentials, he possesses significant red-ball experience, featuring for South Australia in the Sheffield Shield, Australia's premier domestic first-class competition.
In 2022, McAndrew also played for Warwickshire. Over his career, he has taken 256 wickets in 63 first-class matches, maintaining an average of 25.69. Notably, last year he recorded career-best T20 bowling figures of 6-21 against Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens.
"I'm really looking forward to this season with Glamorgan," said McAndrew. "Hopefully I can add value on and off the field and contribute to success in 2026."
Glamorgan's Return to Division One and Strengthening the Squad
Glamorgan will compete in Division One of the County Championship this summer after securing promotion to the top tier for the first time in 20 years last season. The club is focused on bolstering its pace bowling options and aims to make additional signings ahead of their opening County Championship match against Yorkshire at home on 3 April.
"It's an exciting time for the club coming back into Division One and playing some strong cricket in the Vitality Blast," added McAndrew.
Mark Wallace, Glamorgan's director of cricket, expressed enthusiasm about McAndrew's arrival:
"Nathan has been one of the best performers in domestic cricket around the world over the last few years and we're delighted that he's able to join Glamorgan for a key period of the season. Having someone with his experience of county cricket is very important and we're looking forward to welcoming him to Wales."
