Stokes and Atkinson Absent Following Nightclub Incident
Seamer Ollie Robinson, who played a pivotal role in England's victory in the first Test against New Zealand, will miss the second Test due to soreness in his right knee, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed on Monday.
Robinson, playing his first Test in over two years, took seven wickets, including five in the first innings, earning the player of the match award as England secured a 115-run win on a challenging pitch at Lord’s.
The 32-year-old developed knee soreness after a training session on Friday and underwent a scan on Saturday. In response, the ECB has called up uncapped Henry Crocombe as cover.
“Robinson will remain with the squad and undergo rehab work on his knee ahead of the third test,” the ECB added.
The second match of the three-Test series is set to begin at The Oval on Wednesday. England are already without their regular captain Ben Stokes and bowler Gus Atkinson.
Both Stokes and Atkinson were excluded from the second Test following an investigation into an incident at a London nightclub.
