Blast round-up: Carlson ton as Glamorgan beat Somerset

Kiran Carlson scored a century for Glamorgan as they comfortably defeated reigning T20 Blast champions Somerset with over six overs remaining in their run chase.

The 28-year-old struck 109 runs from 45 balls, including 19 boundaries—13 fours and six sixes—in a commanding innings at Sophia Gardens. Glamorgan chased down Somerset's total of 171-9 with ease.

Elsewhere, Yorkshire moved to the top of the North Group standings with a 58-run victory over Durham, securing their third consecutive win this season.

James Wharton contributed 64 runs with nine boundaries, while captain Jonny Bairstow added 43 as Yorkshire bowled out Durham for just 91, handing Durham their first T20 loss of the season.

Earlier in the competition, Worcestershire Rapids handed Warwickshire Bears their third consecutive T20 defeat, highlighting the Bears' struggles to replicate their strong red-ball form this season. Derbyshire Falcons also secured bragging rights against Notts Outlaws.

North Group: Derbyshire claim bragging rights against Notts

Aneurin Donald delivered an explosive innings, hitting 15 boundaries in his 31-ball 84 as Derbyshire secured their second win in three days with a 23-run victory over local rivals Notts Outlaws at the County Ground.

Martin Andersson, Derbyshire's all-rounder, continued his excellent form following a 6-23 bowling performance and a half-century on Wednesday by scoring an unbeaten 69. The Falcons posted a formidable total of 234-4.

For Notts, Tom Moores scored 75 not out, but the visitors suffered their third loss in three matches despite reaching 211-6.

Leicestershire Foxes recorded their first win of the season with a narrow two-wicket victory over Lancashire Lightning in a thrilling match at Emirates Old Trafford.

Seventeen-year-old Joe Moores scored his maiden half-century for Lancashire, top-scoring with 55 runs. He notably switch-hit back-to-back boundaries to reach the milestone, including a six in the 14th over.

However, the match was marred by a serious injury to Sol Budinger, who was stretchered off after colliding with teammate Liam Trevaskis while attempting a catch near the boundary.

Leicestershire appeared on course for victory, but three wickets in three balls shifted momentum before the Foxes held their composure to reach the target of 146 with one ball remaining.

Meanwhile, Yorkshire remain unbeaten in the North Group after a dominant win over Durham at Chester-le-Street. Moeen Ali took 2-12 and executed a direct hit run-out of Ollie Robinson.

Somerset, who had won their opening two games, started strongly against Glamorgan at Cardiff with Tom Banton scoring 59 from 25 balls to help the team reach 100-2 at the halfway point.

However, Banton was dismissed by Mason Crane (3-42), who also took the wicket of James Rew as Somerset collapsed to 171-9. Australian all-rounder Nathan McAndrew impressed on his Glamorgan debut, finishing with figures of 4-15.

James Sales delivered career-best T20 bowling figures of 5-21 as Northamptonshire Steelbacks defeated Gloucestershire by nine wickets, maintaining their perfect start to the tournament.

Ben Charlesworth top-scored with 49 for Gloucestershire before becoming Sales' fifth wicket in their total of 164-9.

Northamptonshire opener Chris Lynn scored 69 from 36 balls, marking his first half-century since returning to Wantage Road. He shared a 91-run partnership with fellow Australian Nathan McSweeney, who scored 53 from 36 balls. David Willey sealed the win in the 17th over.

Pakistan leg-spinner Usama Mir took 3-27 and seamer Tom Taylor 2-17 as Worcestershire restricted Warwickshire to 141 at New Road, with only three Warwickshire batters reaching double figures.

The target proved insufficient for Warwickshire to defend, as Worcestershire chased it down comfortably. Kashif Ali top-scored with 36, and Sikandar Raza's unbeaten 24 guided them to victory with seven balls remaining.

South Group: Dawson dashes Surrey hopes, Essex win Battle of the Bridge

Veteran all-rounder Liam Dawson led Hampshire Hawks' recovery from 35-3 with an unbeaten 76 from 44 balls, helping them secure a five-wicket win over Surrey, handing Surrey their first defeat.

Surrey had appeared to gain an advantage after Jordan Clark scored 34 not out, including 30 runs from the final over bowled by Chris Wood, lifting Surrey to 174-8.

Early wickets from Reece Topley and Tom Curran put Hampshire under pressure, but Dawson and Tristan Stubbs, who scored 31 from 27 balls, added 83 runs to guide the Hawks to victory with five balls to spare.
