Green Party Leader Calls for Trump to Be Removed from Scottish Golf Courses

The leader of the Green Party in England and Wales, Zack Polanski, has publicly called for Donald Trump to be "kicked out" of his Scottish golf courses and for these properties to be "brought into community ownership."

Polanski made these remarks during a visit to Glasgow, where he was supporting his Scottish Green colleagues ahead of the upcoming Holyrood election.

During a press conference, Polanski was highly critical of the former US president, stating that Trump had "started illegal and unpopular wars."

"It's not for me to tell Scotland what to do either but I'd really like to see Donald Trump kicked out of his golf courses.
"I don't think you should be able to start illegal and unpopular wars and still have golf courses. I'd love to see those golf courses brought into community ownership."

He clarified that this statement was a personal opinion and not an official policy of either the Green Party or the Scottish Greens.

Polanski also expressed skepticism about the notion of the United Kingdom maintaining a "special relationship" with Trump and the United States, saying it "does not stand up to any scrutiny."

Trump's Scottish Golf Properties

Donald Trump owns two golf resorts in Scotland: Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire and Trump Turnberry in South Ayrshire.

The Trump International Golf Links is located on the Menie Estate at Balmedie and features two 18-hole courses. The original Old Course opened in 2012, and Trump inaugurated the New Course during a private four-day visit to Scotland last summer.

Trump has previously stated that he built the course in memory of his mother, who was born and raised in Lewis in the Western Isles.

Response from Trump International Scotland

Trump International Scotland responded strongly to Polanski's comments. Sarah Malone, the executive vice president, described the remarks as "frankly ludicrous and ignorant and made by a man who is an imbecile."

"The comments in relation to our golf courses in Scotland are frankly ludicrous and ignorant and made by a man who is an imbecile."

Following this, Polanski took to social media to express his views on spokespersons who represent Donald Trump.

Context Within the Scottish Election Campaign

This is not the first time Donald Trump's name has been mentioned during the Scottish election campaign. Earlier in the week, First Minister and SNP leader John Swinney declined an invitation from the White House to attend a banquet celebrating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

Now, Zack Polanski is advocating for punitive measures against Trump for his "illegal and unpopular wars." When asked about how such sanctions might be implemented, Polanski did not provide specific details.

The response from the Trump team was characteristically forceful, while Polanski's retort was noted for its sharp wit.

Political and Geopolitical Implications

Polanski's position is likely to be viewed as an extreme stance by other political parties. However, he also highlighted concerns about instability within NATO, an issue that is of significant concern to both the UK and Scottish governments.

This instability is particularly relevant given the worsening economic conditions faced by citizens, which have been exacerbated by the ongoing conflict in Iran.

In an upcoming diplomatic effort, the King is scheduled to travel across the Atlantic to improve relations with a figure who could be likened to a modern-day George Washington, known for his opposition to British rule.

Despite the political tensions, Trump's well-maintained golf courses in Scotland are expected to remain unaffected by any revolutionary actions on this side of the Atlantic.
