Two Teenagers Injured Near Holyrood Secondary School

Two teenage boys have been hospitalized with injuries believed to be caused by fireworks near Holyrood Secondary School in Glasgow's southside, according to police reports.

Both pupils were transported by ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Children for medical treatment following the incident.

Police and Bomb Squad Response

Police Scotland received a call at approximately 12:15 pm and responded by dispatching a bomb squad to the scene on Dixon Avenue, close to the school.

A Police Scotland spokesperson stated that the explosive ordnance disposal team was

"in attendance to assess an item found at the scene"

Road Closures and Evacuations

Authorities have closed Dixon Avenue at Cathcart Road, Gartuke Street, and Belleisle Street. The road closure remains in effect, and the public is advised to avoid the area.

As a precautionary measure, nearby businesses and residences have been evacuated to ensure safety.

Council Statement

A spokesperson for the council commented on the situation:

"We're aware of an incident that took place out with the school premises this afternoon. As a result of the incident, two pupils were injured and have been taken to hospital for assessment. We are working with the appropriate authorities as inquiries continue."
