Surrey Police have concluded no rape took place outside an Epsom church after an extensive investigation revealed the woman sustained an accidental head injury and made a confused report.

Police Clarify Incident Outside Epsom Church

Surrey Police have stated that no sexual offence occurred in connection with the reported rape outside a church in Epsom earlier this month.

Following an "extensive" investigation into the incident, which had led to protests and public disorder in the town, the police now believe the woman involved "sustained an accidental head injury" after a night out and subsequently made "a confused report".

Surrey Police further commented:

"The woman involved has given us permission to information and she continues to be supported by relevant services".

The force has officially closed its investigation into the alleged attack.
