Fatal Crash in Newport

Two men have been charged with murder after a collision involving a BMW and a motorbike resulted in the deaths of two individuals.

Emergency services responded to Aberthaw Road in Newport early on Thursday morning, where two people were declared dead at the scene.

Victims Identified

Gwent Police identified the deceased as 19-year-old Jaydon Bowyer and 16-year-old Tashay Canoville, who were the driver and pillion passenger of the motorbike, respectively.

Arrests and Charges

On Thursday, an 18-year-old man from Newport and a 34-year-old man were arrested and subsequently charged with murder, according to police statements.

Both individuals remain in police custody and are scheduled to appear before Newport Magistrates' Court on Monday.

"Both Jaydon and Tashay's families are being supported by specialist officers and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.
We would like to thank the community for their support while we continue to investigate fully the circumstances of these tragic deaths," said Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Superintendent Steven Maloney.

He also noted that residents may observe an increased police presence in the area in the coming days as investigations proceed.

Additional Arrests and Releases

Police confirmed that two women, aged 24 and 40 from Newport, who were previously arrested on suspicion of murder, have been released, as reported by PA.
