Allegations of Planned Terror Attacks in Cardiff

Two men from Cardiff have denied accusations of planning terrorist attacks targeting Muslim and Jewish communities in the Welsh capital. Rhys Edwards, aged 18, from Heath, and Talan Vincent, also 18, from Whitchurch, are alleged to hold extreme right-wing views and to have conspired to carry out violent acts.

The charges include planning attacks on the Madina Mosque, located in Cathays, as well as targeting Muslims celebrating Eid in Roath Park.

The Old Bailey court was informed that the defendants conducted research and visited potential target sites. It was also alleged that they intended to acquire firearms in preparation for the attacks.

Court Proceedings and Charges

Both Edwards and Vincent pleaded not guilty to the charges and were remanded in custody pending their trial scheduled for 1 February 2027 at Bristol Crown Court.

Additional allegations include discussions about attacking a synagogue in Cardiff. It was claimed that Edwards planned to carry out live-streamed attacks, while Vincent was expected to provide practical assistance and advice.

The defendants denied preparing terrorist acts during the period from 1 October to 16 November of the previous year.

During the hearing, the pair spoke only to confirm their identities and enter their pleas of not guilty.

A bail application submitted by Vincent was refused by Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb.
