Two Arrested Following Fatal Collision in Cudworth

Two individuals have been taken into custody on suspicion of murder after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle near Barnsley on Friday evening.

The victim, a 45-year-old man, died at the scene after being hit by a white Volkswagen Touareg on Rose Tree Avenue in Cudworth at approximately 16:55 BST on Friday, according to police reports.

A 60-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently being held in custody.

Ongoing Investigation and Road Closure

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Cartwright stated that Rose Tree Avenue will remain closed as the investigation continues. He encouraged anyone with information related to the incident to contact South Yorkshire Police.

"Our investigation into this tragic incident is still in its early stages and our thoughts first and foremost are with the victim's family, friends and loved ones."
