Incident Overview

Three boys aged nine, 12, and 13 were detained following reports of masked youths attacking vehicles with stones and throwing petrol bombs at a bus stop in the Glengalliagh Road area of Londonderry. The incident occurred at approximately 18:00 BST on Sunday night.

Police Response

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) responded to reports of masked youths throwing stones at passing vehicles and obstructing the road with burning pallets. The children involved were detained, cautioned, and subsequently taken home to their parents.

They are scheduled to be referred to the youth diversion officer as part of the follow-up process.

Official Statements

"It is really disappointing to see young people involved in this type of behaviour," said Chief Inspector Cherith Craig.
"We know it is not reflective of the community of Galliagh, and that this type of reckless activity is not supported by the community," the senior officer added.

Ongoing Investigation

Police will review available footage as part of their inquiries and have appealed to the public for any information related to the incident.
