Three Arrests Made Following Attempted Arson at Persian Media Offices
Three individuals have been arrested after an attempted arson attack targeted the offices of a Persian language media organisation located in north-west London.
According to police reports, an ignited container was thrown towards the building in Wembley on Wednesday at approximately 20:30 BST. Fortunately, there were no reports of damage or injuries resulting from the incident.
Officers pursued a black SUV shortly after the attack, which led to the arrest of a 16-year-old boy and two men aged 19 and 21. All three were detained on suspicion of arson endangering life.
The Metropolitan Police clarified that the incident is not being treated as terrorism and is not currently believed to be connected to other recent arson attacks in north London.
The ignited container landed in a car park adjacent to the building, where the fire quickly extinguished itself.
The black SUV was observed leaving the scene and was subsequently chased by police. The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed on Ballards Lane, where the arrests were made.
The two men and the teenager remain in police custody as investigations continue.
As a precautionary measure, several nearby buildings were evacuated but were reopened shortly after police confirmed there was no broader risk to the public.
Despite the incident not being treated as terrorism, detectives from Counter Terrorism Policing London are leading the investigation with support from local officers.
The Metropolitan Police also stated that this attack is not currently believed to be linked to an attempted arson at a synagogue in Finchley on the same day, nor to last month's arson attack on four ambulances belonging to the Jewish community charity Hatzola in Golders Green.
