Recovery of Teenager's Body from River Nith
The body of an 18-year-old teenager has been recovered from a section of the River Nith in Dumfries.
Emergency services responded at approximately 18:50 on Thursday following reports of a person in the water near the Kingholm Road area of the town.
Search operations were conducted, resulting in the discovery of the young man's body.
In a brief statement, Police Scotland said the incident is not being treated as suspicious and that a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
"The incident was not being treated as suspicious and a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal."
The location where the teenager died is frequented by dog walkers, joggers, and cyclists.
A riverside path extends from Dock Park to Kingholm Quay, providing recreational access along the river.

There is convenient access to the riverside at multiple points on both sides of the river, with shallow bankings nearby.
The River Nith is tidal, and water levels can change rapidly.
Separate Incident in the Highlands
In an unrelated event, a body was recovered from a remote loch in the Highlands during a search for a missing teenager.
