Teenager Charged Following Extradition from UAE

A teenager has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a 27-year-old woman after being extradited from the United Arab Emirates to the United Kingdom.

Details of the Incident

The charge concerns the stabbing of Kamonnan Thiamphanit, which occurred at a property in Bayswater, west London, on 6 April 2024.

Thiamphanit, also known as Angela, was discovered by police at her residence on Stanhope Place at approximately 8:30 a.m. She was found with multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Extradition and Legal Proceedings

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Enzo Bettamio, 18, who has no fixed address, was extradited successfully on a flight from Dubai to the UK on Friday. This followed joint efforts by the police force and specialist lawyers from the Crown Prosecution Service’s extradition and international units.

Bettamio was formally charged with the murder of Thiamphanit on Saturday and appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

During the hearing, he spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth. He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday. No plea was entered at this stage.

Support for the Victim’s Family

The family of Kamonnan Thiamphanit has been informed of the latest developments and continues to receive support from specialist officers, according to the police.

“I would also like to express my sincere thanks to Angela’s family and friends for their patience and unwavering support to the investigation, throughout what has been an incredibly difficult and distressing time for them,” said Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who is leading the investigation.

Background on the Victim

Thiamphanit held dual Chinese-Hong Kong and Thai nationality and was employed in property management. She had been residing in the UK for approximately nine years.
