Skinny Welsh Home Attracts Strong Interest
Claiming to be one of Britain's narrowest homes, a house located in the south Wales valleys sold for just under £45,000, approximately twice its initial estimate.
The one-bedroom cottage in Pentre, Rhondda Cynon Taf, measures a slim 7.5ft (2.2m) at its widest point.
Despite its narrow width, the property offers space to extend lengthwise into the garden area.
The property was originally listed for £23,000 and attracted 35 bids during the auction process.
Situated on Llewellyn Street, the compact home includes all standard rooms such as a hallway, fitted bathroom, and kitchen. Additional features include UPVC double glazing, a garage, and a garden.
Other Notably Narrow Welsh Properties
This is not the only Welsh property known for its narrow dimensions yet significant interest.
On the quayside in Conwy, a 16th-century house claims the title of Britain's smallest. It measures just 6ft (1.8m) wide and 10ft (3m) long. The house was declared unfit for habitation in 1900 when it was rented by a local fisherman who stood 6ft tall.
In 2020, this tourist attraction was closed due to Coronavirus restrictions, limiting visitors to viewing only from outside without entry for the whistle-stop tour.
England's Narrowest Home
In London, a Victorian house located in Shepherd's Bush, measuring 1.6m wide, claims to be England's narrowest.
