Rapper Ghetts Sentenced for Fatal Hit-and-Run
Award-winning rapper Ghetts has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for causing the death of a young man in a hit-and-run incident in north-east London.
The 41-year-old artist, whose birth name is Justin Clarke-Samuel, received his sentence at the Old Bailey after admitting to causing the death of 20-year-old Yubin Tamang by dangerous driving.
Tamang, a university student from Nepal, succumbed to his injuries in hospital two days after being struck by Clarke-Samuel's vehicle on Redbridge Lane East, Ilford, during the early hours of 18 October 2025.
The court was informed that Clarke-Samuel was driving at speeds exceeding 60mph in a 30mph zone when his BMW M5 collided with Tamang as he was crossing the road. Clarke-Samuel failed to stop at the scene following the collision.
Details of the Incident
During the proceedings on Tuesday, prosecutor Philip McGhee provided details of the case, stating that Clarke-Samuel had consumed alcohol on the evening of the crash.
"The rapper was said to be one and a half times over the legal limit."
