Police Name Man and Teenager Who Died in Highland Crash Near Fort William

Victims Identified in Highland Vehicle Fire

Police have identified the man and teenager who died in a crash near Fort William last month. The victims were David Allan Mackay, 44, and 16-year-old Kai Mathieson.

The pair were found deceased inside a vehicle that had caught fire on the A830 at Corpach on 21 February.

Details of the Incident

Police Scotland confirmed that the two were travelling in a blue Vauxhall Astra involved in a single-vehicle collision at approximately 01:45. Emergency services were alerted to the incident near the Annat Point industrial estate around 03:00.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, and the bodies of the two occupants were discovered inside the car.

Community Response

Lochaber High School paid tribute to Kai Mathieson, who was a pupil in S5 at the school.

"Our heartfelt thoughts and sincere condolences are with his family and friends during this incredibly difficult time,"

the school stated.

Ongoing Investigation

Police Scotland continues to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the crash. Officers have appealed for information from anyone who may assist with inquiries.

Sgt Calum MacAulay expressed his sympathies, stating that his thoughts are with the families and friends affected by the incident.
